Hrafnagil is owned by Jón Elvar Hjörleifsson and Berglind Kristinsdóttir and are operated farm in the northern part of Iceland.

Hrafnagil's location is unique. It is situated between magnificent mountains and amongst prosperous farming communities.  We bought the land and the farm in the spring of 2000 from Mr Benedikt Hjaltason and his family but up until then we lived across the Eyjafjörður River on Ytra-Laugaland which is a dairy farm with 50 cows. Jón were born and raised there. Today, we have approximately 180-190 cows as well as bullocks and our current production is 923.464 l of milk. Today we run the largest dairy farm in Iceland.

We also own half of the Ytra-Laugaland farm and most of the land of Brúnir farm where our sister and brother-in-law, Hugrún and Einar, live breeding horses and sheep. The bullocks are raised and bred on Ytra-Laugaland.

On the 12th of January 2006 we finished installing a state of the art cow-milking carousel which enables us to milk 30 cows simultaneously and now the milking process only takes just over 4 hours a day instead 10 hours. Also, since 2006, we have been running a sod sale during the summertime.

The horse breeding part of our work is expanding and prospering. First and foremost we enjoy the breeding and but we also felt it was our obligation to continue Hjalti Jósepsson's work who was an eminent breeder of horses for 50 years on the Hrafnagil farm. We have bought mares either from Hrafnagil or bred from the Hrafnagil farm and are very excited and optimistic about the future.
