A short update from us at Hrafnagil. We have now bought Grettir and Kristín’s share in Ytra-Laugaland Inc. We wish them best of luck in their future endeavors.
We are not planning on making any great changes just yet but we will keep you posted.
All the best,
Jon Elvar and Berglind

Business as usual at Hrafnagil. Sara was taken to Hvoll last Thursday and Vængur returned but will be staying at Flugumýri for next few months with Páll Bjarki. Jarpur from Hrafnagil, owned by us and Páll Bjarki, has also returned. Jarpur is 4 years old and will start his break in very soon.
Stefán Birgir Stefánsson at Litli-Garður has been keeping Hrafn, sired by Flótti from Borgarhóll (mother Kolbrá from Kvíarhóll) but I purchased him back here at Hrafnagil. Hrafn, a big one, is off to a good start. Ragnar-Elías has been with Stefán Birgir for a month as well. Ragnar-Elías has not been castrated and is rather small, in his fifth year, but his movements are fantastic.
This week 3 horses will be taken to Dalvík for a break in at Stefán Agnarsson.

I, Rósberg and Ketill (owners of Dósent) bought recently four shares in Hófur from Varmalækur along with a group other good men. Hófur is a stallion and took the 1st prize this spring, only 4 years old. He will be trained by Metta at Þúfur this winter and we look forward to seeing the outcome. His owners are from Þingeyjasýsla, Eyjafjarðarsýsla and Húnavatnssýsla along with the two brothers, Sveinn and Logi. This purchase guarantees that the horse won't leave the country anytime soon. ☺

Hrímnir the great thoroughbred from Hrafnagil was put to rest today on the farm Varmilækur. He was taken ill suddenly this morning. Hrímnir was a splendid stallion and probably one of the greatest ones in the history of the Icelandic horse. One cannot but think if Hrímnir had not been castrated. We would probably have a great number of beautiful offsprings and the conformation of the Icelandic breed would be much better. That is unquestionable since Hrímnir's conformation was far above par.

Sara from Víðines II will be in training at Hvolur farm this winter. Sara will by trained by Óli and Þorvaldur Árni and we are determined to take her to the 2008 LM. Vængur will be taken along as well if he passes the test but hopefully we can have them both at Hvolur where the accomodation is superb not to mention top notch riders.

This is a one-year-old colt sired by Vængur from Brúnir (mother Adamsdottir from Leysingjastaðir). We bought this one the other day when we were passing through Hunavatnssysla in the north-western part of Iceland. I found the neck and his movements very promising. We are not castrating this one.

We are proud
to present this foal born to Perla from Hrafnagil. She is sired by Þokki from
Kýrholt. As you can see on the picture she is chestnut with double star. We
find her very promising, tall and erect.

Here you can
see our 1st prize mare Sara from Víðines (sired by Þokki from
Kýrholt and mother is Sóley from Hrafnagil) with her beautiful offspring, a
colt sired by Forseti from Vorsabær. This colt got himself into trouble the
other day when he got stuck in a ditch. When we found him only his nostrils
where visible so we feel very fortunate to have arrived just in the nick of
time. We believe he has a long and prosperous life ahead despite a rough
beginning J

These days,
Hrímnir Inc. is working on stallion-related issues for next year. We are very
optimistic that we will be able to attract some outstanding stallions to us for
both seasons in 2008 but we are unable to disclose any details at this moment
in time. We will of course keep our readers up to date and post information on
our website as soon as possible.
Our objective
is to present a wide range of excellent stallions every year and if we meet our
goals the two stallions in question for next year will a great competition to
the eminent Rökkvi from Hárlaugsstaðir.
